I propose we rid Battlecam of the word filter.

Simply because:

  • People can simply get around the filter by saying "Sh1t" or "Sh!t" instead of "Shit"
  • You could type a paragraph, and have your whole message deleted because you didn't know something ridiculous such as "Guide" was "Profane"
  • To sign up for the website, you need to be 17 or older. Implying most have experience with profanity and use it regularly to add emphasis on what they are saying.

When looked upon logically, this profanity filter makes no sense. The only reason for it would be to make the site look more professional, although this site can never look professional with all the trolls and such.

The ONLY thing the word filter does to this site, is add stress to the users.
And at the end of the day, isn't the goal to make the site more user friendly?

New Proposition,
Just have it user toggled, and have it automatically selected.
So words have bars, stars, or are replaced with cars.
Would look something like this:

Doesn't look that great with bars.
Pretty sure would work best with stars.
Just have it so when selected, the user can not see words on the profanity list.
Although when it is unselected, the user can see everything.

This would make a lot more sense then having a message not be sent due to profanity.
It would make it much more user-friendly.
